My dad died of Stomach Cancer and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia when he was 56. This weekend is actually the anniversary of his death. He lived with me at the end and actually died in my house while in Hospice care. It has taken me years to start to make sense of how his PTSD affected me. I have recently been diagnosed with Secondary PTSD because I lived with him my whole life. My parents stayed married until I was married and out of the house. Dad had the hypervigilence that you talked about and nightmares and drank for many many years off and on. He was a difficult man, but a good father, for the most part.I felt twisted for so many years...I loved, pitied and hated him throughout my lifetime. There was no peace for him, so I am trying like hell to make peace with it all now. Anyway, thank you for letting me vent. Thank you for sharing your story.
